Troubleshooting NetPrint V3
NetPrint is "authenticated print" for Mac OS X. This allows the Mac OS X user to print from Applications to the NetPrint Server. Authentication is via Kerberos. NetPrint was written by IT Services. Each NetPrint printer must be defined in the Mac OS X printing system. After the user chooses which printer to print to, the CUPS backend system converts the printed output and then the NetPrint application (/Applications/Utilities) is run. The NetPrint application asks the user for a grant to charge the print to and other information that may be needed for the printer, such as the form and bin (the bin is used to retrieve output when the user prints to one of the Durhm 139 NetPrint printers). The NetPrint application uses a locally written "lpr" program to actually send the output to the NetPrint server.

Netprint V3 requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later.
Kerberos must also be enabled and configured for Keberos 5.
